EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS

The School of Hope provides a developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum designed to meet the individual needs of children, ages 3 – 5 years, who have been determined to have a disability.

The local school district is responsible to assess and evaluate referred children and provide preschool options for eligible children.  The School of Hope Preschool is one of Sandusky County's options.

In addition to preschool services, the Sandusky County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities provides an array of services for children and adults who are mentally retarded and/or developmentally delayed.

Preschool classes offer individual and small group instruction in the areas of:

*   Fine Motor

*   Gross Motor

*   Self Help

*   Cognitive

*   Language

*   Socialization

Typically developing peers attend class with those children identified as having a disability or delay.

Transition planning is provided for preschool children as they move into school age programs.

Days and times of attendance are based on the child's individual needs.
