RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitors and observes the behavior of children and adult client passengers on agency buses to ensure the safety of all passengers and a safe environment; demonstrates proper behavior and interaction between clients. Assists children and adult clients on and off buses; assists with fastening and unfastening seat belts, wheelchair space locks and assists clients in and out of special seats or restraints.

Assists driver in emergencies; helps evacuate bus through emergency exits as required; administers first aid; calls or goes for aid as required. Performs inspections of vehicle and equipment for safety; inspects seat belts and wheelchair locks; checks first aid supplies and other emergency equipment and reports any deficiencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operates passenger bus to transport students and clients to and from workshop and school and special outings or events as required; operates lift to assist students and clients in wheelchairs on and off busses as required; serves as liaison between homes and school; administers first aid as required; ensures seat belts are fastened.

Performs daily routine maintenance on busses; visually inspects busses to ensure proper operation of safety equipment; reports need for bus maintenance and repair immediately.  Assigns students and clients to seats on bus; maintains discipline; maintains bus roster with appropriate emergency information; maintains current map of route.  Prepares and maintains records and reports as required; maintains bus cleanliness; maintains inventory of emergency equipment and supplies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participates in the delivery of services to persons who are mentally retarded and developmentally disabled in the areas of self-help skills, socialization, physical development activities, communication skills, leisure time activities and personal hygiene. Assists in supervising consumers in production and non-production areas as directed and maintains production, safety, unusual incidents and other record keeping and reporting procedures.

Assists in making recommendations, development and implementation of individual habilitation programs and participates in staffing committee meetings of those individuals assigned to them.

Assists in the supervision and training of clients by location on the work floor. Control the  quality and record the quantity of each individual’s production on a daily basis. Monitors behavior of assigned clients and reports any irregularities to plant manager in writing. Assists in the development and maintenance of health and safety procedures and implementation to insure the well-being of program participants.

Assists in inspection of assigned production area. Reports needed maintenance of all program equipment or facilities. Assists in the organization of incoming and outgoing materials in order to maintain the work flow thru proper utilization of storage space throughout the facility.

Accompanies clients on regularly scheduled events and special events. Promote positive public relations toward the mentally retarded and developmentally disabled of Sandusky County.

Performs other duties as may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the training program for mentally retarded and developmentally disabled in areas of social development, leisure time, vocational and academic skills within limits of the individual.

Assist in maintaining discipline in the classrooms, corridors, playground area and cafeteria according to the manner instituted by the Instructor and in keeping with the regulations of the Administrator.

Model appropriate social moral behavior as a public service employee responsible for the education of children as supported by public monies.

Able to lift 20-50 pounds; transfer and position children as required.

Keep all materials which he/she comes in contact with strictly confidential.

Required to keep training, financial and attendance records under the supervision of the Instructor.

Attend all conferences and meetings as directed by the Superintendent or his/her designee, unless excused by the individual who called the meeting.

Report to the facility by 8:30 a.m. each working day and remain in the facility until 3:00 p.m. unless other working hours have been scheduled.
