EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS
(PRE-SCHOOL)


 

 

The School of Hope provides a developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum designed to meet the individual needs of children, ages 3 – 5 years, who have been determined to have a disability.

 

The local school district is responsible to assess and evaluate referred children and provide preschool options for eligible children.  The School of Hope Preschool is one of Sandusky County's options.

 

In addition to preschool services, the Sandusky County Board of Developmental Disabilities provides an array of services for children and adults who are mentally and developmentally delayed.

 

Preschool classes offer individual and small group instruction in the areas of:

 

*   Fine Motor

 

*   Gross Motor

 

*   Self Help

 

*   Cognitive

 

*   Language

 

*   Socialization

 

    

The School of Hope Pre-School also offers:

 

*   Typically developing peers attend class with those children identified as having a disability or delay.

*   Transition planning is provided for preschool children as they move into school age programs.

*   Days and times of attendance are based on the child's individual needs. 

IMPORTANT DETAILS REGARDING THE SCHOOL OF HOPE PRESCHOOL PROGRAM:
 

 

*   LOCATION:  Preschool classes are located in the School of Hope Building at 1001 Castalia St., Fremont, OH.

*   DAYS & TIMES:  Preschool operates on the school calendar, 5 days a week, 9:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m.

*   NUMBER OF CHILDREN:  Each class has no more than 8 children with disabilities and up to 4 non-disabled
      children.

*   STAFF:  Each classroom teacher is certified by the Ohio Department of Education in the area of Early Education
      of the Handicapped.  All classrooms have a certified teacher’s assistant at all times.

*   COST:  There is no fee for services for preschool children with a disability.  A hot lunch is available through the
      school lunch program.
